This Half term your child will be learning around the topic ‘Extreme Weather’. Your child will be
learning the following:
Maths: money, time, measuring length and mass and handling data.
English: Information, Poetry, Recount and Narrative text types.
*observe changes across the four seasons
*observe and describe weather associated with the seasons and how day length varies
*find out which areas have the same seasons as the UK and where in the world things are not the
*explore how places in the Southern Hemisphere have the opposite seasons to us.
P.E: Gymnastics (floor work) and dance. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD HAS SUITABLE, NAMED INDOOR KIT ON MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS
-Learn about some of the amazing weather around the world (cyclones, tornadoes, snow storm, hot deserts, flood and other incredible features).
-name the continents and oceans and investigate the weather and climate in tropical, temperature and cold places
-track the weather in some of their favourite places in the world and keep a weather chart in school
-monitor weather forecasts and see how weather is affected by the different cloud types
PHSE: Getting on and falling out using the SEAL programme of study
R.E: The Religion for this term is Christianity and the key learning question is:

Why are these words special?
How can faith contribute to Community Cohesion?
Why are sometimes special?
What can be learnt from lives of significant people?
How do I and others feel about life and the universe?
Music: To understand the importance of listening within music, focussing on contrast:
Computer science: E-safety
-understand what algorithms are; how they are implemented as programs on digital devices; and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions
– create and debug simple programs
ART: Season art, extreme weather. Painting/ink/dye/textiles/pencils/crayons/pastels
Design Technology: Weather measuring tools (wind vane), Create kites and thermometers.
HOMEWORK: at the beginning of every week, your child will be given spellings to learn in preparation for a test on Friday. Please make sure that you practise these as much as possible at home. Reading as much as possible with an adult at home is also very important. During each half term, your child will be given a homework project to complete. This project will relate to what they have been learning in class.
EXTRA INFORMATION: To promote a love of reading in Class Stegosaurus, we are starting a book club every Friday. Your child can bring a book of their choice into school, share the book with friends and then undertake an activity around their book.
